Apostles & Markets
presents a set of twelve lessons for use by Catholic and Christian instructors in economics and theology courses. As the title implies, the lessons address issues involving economics in a special way — in the light of faith and reason, with reference to principles from Catholic social doctrine and concepts from the economic way of thinking. A&M can serve as a source of supplementary materials, enriching the content of economics or social studies instruction, or as stand-alone lessons.
For Homeschoolers
A&M lessons have become popular among Christian homeschool groups. This is wonderful. It motivated us to offer the lessons as free digital downloads through this new website. Please spread the word that this curriculum is available. And please let us hear from you. We want your feedback.
For Teachers
Each of the 12 lessons is now available on this website as a free downloadable pdf file and contains all the materials necessary for teaching the lesson, including suggested answer keys. Additionally, there are related articles and supplementary videos, as well the A&M News blog to provide insights on applying the lessons to contemporary issues.
For Parents and Students
The A&M curricula is offered online for Juniors and Seniors as a one semester course "Catholic Social Teaching Through Apostles and Markets" through the Jesuit Virtual Learning Academy and is taught by the author, Professor Stephen Haessler. For more information on registration please visit the JVLA website.
Apostles and Markets was written and published with the generous support of The Robert and Marie Hansen Family Foundation. The lessons are dedicated to Bob and Marie Hansen for their generous support of the faith and a free and virtuous society.
